Registration is open for WMU's Turkey Trot 5K

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Turkey Trot 5K run and walk, southwest Michigan's oldest organized race, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Western Michigan University's Student Recreation Center.

Registration is underway for the event, which winds through campus and is open to the public as well as the WMU community.

This event was originally planned for Saturday, Nov. 19, and had to be rescheduled due to ESPN College GameDay logistics. Refunds must be requested by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, for those who can no longer participate. Details are posted on the event website at wmich.edu/rec/turkeytrot.

Early registration

The early registration cost to participate in the Turkey Trot is $20 for walkers and runners who register:

  • Online by noon Monday, Nov. 14.
  • In person by 5 p.m. Nov. 14.
  • By mail that is postmarked no later than Nov. 14.

Preregistration, on-site registration

Preregistration—online, in person and by mail—will continue until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, but cost $25 per person.

On-site registration also costs $25.

Check-in for the Turkey Trot will take place from 7 to 8 a.m. on the day of the event. During this period, racers and walkers may register on site as well as pick up their participant packets.
