Employees urged to attend Benefits and Wellness Expo
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The upcoming Benefits and Wellness Expo will provide Western Michigan University employees an opportunity to learn more about their benefits and take part in a wide range of activities to improve health and wellness.
The Expo is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom. Activities include health prevention and safety tips, drawings for prizes, healthy food samples, exhibitor giveaways, Western Wellness assessments, health plan information, chair massages, informational session by MPSERS, consultations with benefit providers and even flu shots.
Exhibitors, workshops and spotlights
In addition, 35 exhibitors also will be on hand. Exhibitors range from TIAA, Fidelity and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to Holtyn & Associates, WMU Western Wellness and West Hills Athletic Club.
One-hour Benefits Workshops will be offered on the WMU health plan choice, which is the new Healthy Blue Living HMO, and preretirement planning for MPSERS participants. New this year will be five-minute Wellness Spotlights inside the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom. Topics include everything from Bands for Functional Fitness and Hearing Health Hints to Stress Coping Tips, Healthy Sleep Habits, Simple Speedy Stretches, Time Crunch Workouts, and Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention.
Flu shots
The Sindecuse Health Center will be offering flu shots to WMU employees at the expo, with no appointment necessary. An insurance card and picture ID will be required. Flu shots are also available weekdays by appointment at the health center. Call (269) 387-3287.
