KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Robert White, a trumpet professor at Western Michigan University, will be the featured soloist in a free concert with the University Symphony Orchestra at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, in Miller Auditorium. He will perform Alexander Arutunian's Trumpet Concerto in A-Flat Major, a staple of the trumpet repertoire.

The program will begin with the Overture to Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi. The overture contains "Va pensiero," a piece known to conjure strong feelings of Italian nationalism. The concert will conclude with Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's orchestral tone poem Scheherazade, which is based on the tales and legends of "One Thousand and One Nights."
