Wide range of activities slated for annual Benefits and Wellness Expo

This year's expo is set for Nov. 1.

Faculty and staff members can learn more about their Western Michigan University benefits as well as take part in a wide range of activities to improve their health and wellness during the annual Benefits and Wellness Expo.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom. Meetings scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in 210 Bernhard Center will cover the 2018 health plan changes for affected employee groups.

Expo activities

In addition to getting health plan information, expo attendees will be able to participate in awareness screenings for sun damage, hearing, stress and vascular concerns; chair massages; Western Wellness assessments; and consultations with benefit providers.

The event also will feature healthy food samples, exhibitor giveaways and drawings for prizes.

Among the 30 exhibitors will be benefits administrators and WMU units, including TIAA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fidelity, Western Wellness, University Recreation and the West Hills Athletic Club.

Flu shots

The Sindecuse Health Center will be offering flu shots to WMU employees with no appointment necessary. An insurance card and picture ID will be required.

Flu shots are also available weekdays by appointment at the health center. Call (269) 387-3287 to make an appointment.
