Nominations sought for major University awards
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The campus community is invited to nominate eligible faculty and staff members for three of the major 2018-19 awards Western Michigan University will present during this year's Fall Convocation.
The nomination deadline for these three campuswide honors is Monday, April 2.
The awards
- The Emerging Scholar Award recognizes the scholarly or creative achievements of outstanding colleagues whose accomplishments are evidence of great potential for scholarship or creative work.
- The Distinguished Service Award recognizes exceptional service in one or more of four categories that affect a significant segment of the University community and is usually given for a body of service, rather than a single activity or achievement.
- The Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes outstanding teaching, as marked by the active, critical role of the instructor and mentor whose demanding presence fosters critical thinking and inspires students to engage the quest for knowledge as a value in itself and as a craft.
