KALAMAZOO, Mich—A road closure related to the Arcadia Flats construction project will expand Monday, Oct. 28, on the main campus of Western Michigan University.

The closure, which currently involves a portion of Arcadia Loop, will now extend in front of Burnham and Draper residence halls and include the temporary closure of Burnham sidewalks to the north as well as crosswalks and parking spots on Arcadia. Access to Dormitory Road from Arcadia Loop will also be blocked. Bus service is not expected to be impacted as the bus turnaround in Lot 28 will remain in place.

Crews are installing an electrical bank duct for the project. The construction will coincide with water main rerouting in order to reduce the length of road closures required for the utility work. The closure is expected to extend through the month of November.

Arcadia Flats, WMU's newest student housing complex, is expected to open in fall 2020. It's the first project underway in the University's Hilltop Village development, which also includes the construction of a new student center. Updates on the project, and a live view of construction, are available online.
