Western to celebrate 1,100+ new graduates on Dec. 13
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University will grant more than 1,100 degrees to students during commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 13: 802 bachelor’s, 280 master’s, one specialist degree and 49 doctorates.
Graduates hail from 37 countries, including the United States, and will participate in one of two programs at Miller Auditorium:
- 9 a.m.—Haworth College of Business, College of Fine Arts, College of Health and Human Services, College of Education and Human Development
- Noon—College of Arts and Sciences, Merze Tate College, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and College of Aviation
In addition to the conferring of degrees and presentation of graduates, there will be vignettes on graduate success and a tribute to the degree earners.
All guests, including family members and children of any age, must have a ticket to enter Miller Auditorium. Seating in the auditorium is limited, and all seats are general admission. The week before commencement, graduates may reserve tickets for additional guests to watch the ceremony on a large screen in Brown Hall. The ceremonies also will be livestreamed. WMU conducts formal graduation exercises after the fall and spring semesters and the summer I session, although students also may graduate after the summer II session.
