Bio:

Dr. Anthony DeFulio is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Western Michigan University.

Dr. DeFulio has a broad background in behavioral science that spans the laboratory to practice spectrum. Much of his recent research is focused on using smartphones to deliver contingency management interventions to people with opioid use disorder. This includes work as a principal investigator on a current NIH-funded project in collaboration with DynamiCare Health, Inc. (NIDA grant R44DA055396). He also conducts discovery-oriented work to elucidate basic behavioral processes involved in decision-making and behavioral economics. Students who have recently completed their doctoral degrees under his supervision have gone on to postdoctoral fellowships at NIDA, Baylor University, and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Dr. DeFulio has been the principal investigator on five NIH-funded grants, and a co-investigator on many others. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the WMU Faculty Senate, and is the board liaison to the Research Policies Council. Dr. DeFulio is currently an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Psychiatry and recently served as a guest editor for Behavior Analysis in Practice. He also serves on the board of editors of Perspectives on Behavior Science and has previously served on the board of editors for the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.
