Get Involved with OLLI at WMU
Volunteers are the heart of OLLI at WMU. Whether you want to share your time occasionally or play an ongoing role in shaping our programs, there's a place for you here. We offer a variety of ways to get involved—from joining a committee to helping out with one-time events. Your interests, skills, and availability can help guide how you participate.
Ways to Volunteer
Committee Involvement
Our standing committees work year-round to support the mission of OLLI. New voices and fresh perspectives are always welcome! Consider joining one of the following:
- Assessment and Evaluation – Reviews course evaluation content and processes and explores broader assessment strategies to enhance member experiences.
- Curriculum – Helps develop a diverse and engaging catalog of courses by recruiting instructors, reviewing proposals, assigning course liaisons, and analyzing feedback.
- Events – Plans and hosts social and outreach events, such as Taste of OLLI, the annual meeting, January Thaw, and other seasonal gatherings and appreciation events.
- Marketing and Membership – Recommends promotional opportunities, conducts outreach, and works to grow and retain our membership base.
Ad Hoc Opportunities
If you prefer more flexible or short-term options, we have those too:
- Serve as a liaison for a course.
- Teach a course—OLLI welcomes instructors from all backgrounds. You don’t need to be affiliated with WMU. Have an idea? Let us know!
- Help distribute catalogs or flyers.
- Lend a hand at one-time events or information tables.
- Suggest a new role—if you have an idea, we’re open to hearing it!
About the Leadership Team
The OLLI Leadership Team is composed of the chairs of each committee. This team meets regularly to guide the strategic direction of OLLI and ensure that our programs and operations align with member needs and our mission.
