Student spotlight: Iomar Camacho-Alvarez
It is with pride that we are part of a profession that continues to support the students that someday we will call colleagues. Each year, at MAPA’s fall conference, the Michigan Physician Assistant Foundation (MIPAF) awards an annual scholarship to a PA student entering their final year of education. Applicants must demonstrate a number of attributes including; outstanding scholarship and professional involvement and/or community service. I am proud to announce that Iomar Camacho-Alvarez was the 2018 recipient for Western Michigan University.
“I am extremely grateful to receive this scholarship and fortunate to continue to pursue my education as a physician assistant. This scholarship will help me focus more on learning how to provide exceptional care and ease my financial burden. As a Hispanic student I have learned of the health risks that affect my culture. As a future PA I would like to provide a positive influence and minimize health problems not only in my community but in others as well. Thank you for the support!”
