John Josten Alumni Scholarships

Eligibility criteria:

  • Student(s) in good standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) in Western Michigan University's PA program.
  • Demonstrated "unmet need" for financial assistance.

Note: Scholarships are awarded annually to students admitted to the WMU physician assistant program. One scholarship is awarded to a first year student (after completion of two semesters) and one to a second year student. This scholarship was established to honor the first director of the physician assistant program at WMU.

Award amount: Varies.

Helen Elizabeth Gibbens Physician Assistant Scholarship Fund

Eligibility criteria:

  • Student(s) in good standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) after completion of two semesters in the WMU Physician Assistant program.
  • Demonstrated "unmet need" for financial assistance.

Note: This scholarship will be awarded annually. It was established to honor Helen Elizabeth Gibbens, a former Sindecuse Health Center nurse.

Award amount: Dependent upon fund accumulation.

Michael dabaja endowed physician assistant scholarship

Eligibility criteria:

  • Student(s) in good standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) after completion of two semesters in the WMU Physician Assistant program. 
  • Demonstrated financial obstacles with a preference given to a student from an underrepresented population.

Note: This scholarship will be awarded annually. 

Award amount: Dependent upon fund accumulation. 

department of pHYSICIAN ASSISTANT ANNIVERSARY SCHOLARSHIP FUNd

Eligibility criteria:

  • Second year PA student(s) with a minimum 3.5 GPA upon conclusion of the didactic year
  • Demonstrated involvement in PA professional organizations

Note: This scholarship will be awarded annually. This scholarship was established to honor Dr. William Birch, MD (founder of the WMU PA Program) and Dr. William Fenn, PhD, PA-C (former chair and professor).

Award amount: Dependent upon fund accumulation.
