Dr. Megan Wilkinson is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Western Michigan University. She completed her clinical psychology internship at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.
Dr. Wilkinson’s program of research focuses on understanding the co-morbidity of disordered eating and substance use. Her work has two primary areas of emphasis: (1) uncovering distinct behavioral presentations within this co-morbidity and (2) clarifying the momentary relationships between disordered eating behaviors, substance use, and psychological and sociocultural factors. Dr. Wilkinson’s research incorporates innovative methodologies to capture real-world experiences, including ecological momentary assessment and passive wearable sensors such as smartwatches. The ultimate goal of this research is to enhance the conceptualization, assessment, and treatment of comorbid disordered eating and substance use.
Dr. Wilkinson teaches courses in diagnostic and personality assessment and serves as a clinical supervisor in the Psychology Clinic.
