Registration for spring programming at the McGinnis Reading Center and Clinic is now open. Please be aware that space is limited and programs fill quickly. Literacy Labs

Description: 

Participants will receive interactive whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction. Each week, a specific component will be highlighted (i.e., phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension).

Grade levels: 

Pre-Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

Cost: 

$15 fee for all 5 sessions

Note: A limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis for families whom qualify for free or reduced lunch. Please contact our office at 269-387-3534 to apply. Please make sure to contact our office prior to completing the registration form, so we can better manage the number of registrations accepted. 

Time and dates: 

Two options are available. Students can participate in either Monday or Tuesday sessions. 

Option 1 

Monday Literacy Labs (6-7:15 p.m.)

5 weekly sessions from February 18 – March 25

No session on March 4 due to WMU Spring Break

Option 2

Tuesday Literacy Labs (6-7:15 p.m.)

5 weekly sessions from February 19 – March 26

No session on March 5 due to WMU Spring Break

Literacy Labs Registration and Payment

Tutoring

Description: 

Tutors will collect multiple sources of information and evaluate each student’s strengths and needs in order to determine their individualized instructional plan. Students will be tutored in ways that will engage them in learning that supports their growth in reading, writing, use of critical literacy skills and strategies, confidence, and an appreciation for lifelong learning. Families will receive a Literacy Summary Report at the conclusion of the program.

Grade levels: 

Kindergarten – 8th Grade

Cost: 

$25 required/non-refundable deposit

Plus a tuition fee based on a sliding scale (Rates range from $25 to $150 based on family income.)

Note: A limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis for families whom qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our tutoring scholarships cover both the deposit and tuition fee. Please contact our office at 269-387-3534 to apply. 8 weekly sessions from January 31 – March 28

No session on March 7 due to WMU Spring Break
