Sales student places first in national competition

A team of two Western Michigan University sales students competed in the State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition in Warrensburg, Missouri, on Nov. 2, with one student taking top honors in the sales role-play category.

Sales students receive top honors at regional competition

WMU sales students placed first in the Thomson Reuters Sales Competition, where top sales students from the region competed. Students assumed roles as inside sales representatives selling a custom website service and placed first in team and individual standings.

Jim Eckert

WMU professor receives teaching award for his work at German University

Dr. Jim Eckert, associate professor of marketing, has been awarded the "Best Master's Module" award from Paderborn University in Germany.  Eckert has taught more than 20 courses at Paderborn University since he served as faculty co-director on a study abroad trip in 2006. The award has been presented for Eckert's "Relationship Driven Selling: Theory and Practice" course, which focuses on American-style experiential learning in an otherwise formal, theory-based classroom environment.
