"We were already teaching many of the objectives of AT-CTI within our degree programs, so partnering with the FAA in AT-CTI was a good fit and a great opportunity for our aviation students. Right now, someone couldn't even apply for these jobs without being an AT-CTI graduate or having previous ATC experience." The job outlook for air traffic controllers is favorable, he adds. The FAA is able to closely predict its needs for these jobs because the government has a mandatory retirement age of 56 for air traffic controllers.

Spotlight on Bayer

Webb’s hard work and dedication paid off when she landed a position with Bayer Healthcare as a customer logistics representative. Attending the college’s integrated supply chain management career night secured Webb a job interview, and shortly after she received a job offer. As a customer logistics representative, Webb is the direct voice to customers in Bayer’s radiology department, working with hospitals to ensure they have the products they need.

He is the coauthor of four books, including "Globaphobia: Confronting Fears about Open Trade" and "Growth with Equity: Economic Policymaking for the Next Century." Burtless was also the editor and contributor to six books, including "A Future of Lousy Jobs? The Changing Structure of U.S. Wages" and, most recently, "Closing the Deficit: How Much Can Later Retirement Help?" Burtless has a doctoral degree in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kathryn Hemmen Reflects on Semester in Japan

Study abroad can lead a student anywhere, even to WMU alumni. While in Japan, Hemmen met with Shay VanMeter '12. VanMeter provided Hemmen with good advice for job-hunting in Japan. This will help Hemmen greatly after she graduates as she plans to teach abroad in Japan for a few years in order to improve her language skills and develop stronger intercultural communication skills.

Select group receives top undergraduate honor for 2015

Her interests are in child welfare, particularly foster care and adoption. She is currently interning in the foster care department at Bethany Christian Services. She hopes to obtain a job there after graduating and to work in the organization's transitional foster care department, assisting in the placement of refugee children and utilizing her Spanish-speaking background.
