Student Complaint Processes
Students and prospective students enrolled in online or off-campus programs Western Michigan University are encouraged to first seek resolution of concerns directly with the appropriate university office, department, or college. WMU participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). If an issue remains unresolved after following the institution's internal process, students may file a complaint with the appropriate state agency. Complaints concerning WMUs distance education activities are regulated by Michigan's Higher Education Authorization and Distance Education Reciprocal Exchange Act (2015 PA 45) may be directed to Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, P.O. Box 30805, Lansing, MI 48933 through the process described at www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/wd/pss.
National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) Complaint Process and Procedures
A student living in a SARA reciprocity agreement state who is not satisfied with the outcome of an institutional complaint process and resolution was not found may file a student complaint using the NC-SARA Student Complaint Process on the NC-SARA website.
