To participate in the TRiO Student Success Program, students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Western Michigan University.
First-generation, income-eligible college students with academic need and college students with disabilities are eligible to participate in TRiO projects.
- First-generation is defined as neither parent has received a four-year degree or if the primary supporting parent doesn’t have a four-year degree.
- Income Eligible is defined by the U.S. Department of Education as an individual whose family's taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level amount. This number is adjusted yearly and is based on your taxable income.
- A student with disabilities is defined as a student who has a documented disability at Disability Services for Students at WMU.
If you are an incoming first-year student:
First-year students will receive an application packet from TRiO SSP prior to orientation if they are identified as eligible. If you are an incoming first-year student and believe you are eligible but did not receive an application packet, please download and complete the TRiO SSP First Year Student Application.
If you are a currently enrolled WMU student or a student transferring to WMU:
