Over the next seven months, more than 100 level I and level II students in the WMU Homer Stryker School of Medicine will observe clinics in the WMU Unified Clinics. The Vision and Charles Van Riper Hearing Clinics will welcome small groups of medical students to observe aspects of each clinic in an effort to support interprofessional learning with a variety of medical and allied health care providers.

Beginning in the second month of medical school, students begin an introductory clinical experience that provides students with early and regular experience to become comfortable in clinical settings. Students spend one-half day every 1-2 weeks rotating between clinics.

Doctors and staff in both the Charles Van Riper Hearing and Vision clinics are educating the students about hearing and vision loss, prevention and the importance of early intervention.
