Ensemble Re-Configuration

The WMU Bands have recently re-configured their concert bands in the following way:  
  • Wind Symphony (slightly smaller, more select version of old Symphonic Band)
      Conducted by Dr. Scott Boerma
  • Symphonic Band (smaller, more select version of old Concert Band)
      Conducted by Dr. Trey Harris
  • Concert Band (enhancement of old Campus Band)
      Conducted by Dr. Mary Land

 

Annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music

Julie Giroux will be the featured composer at the 52nd Annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music, held on the campus of Western Michigan University on Thursday, April 9, 2020.  Giroux will work with both the University Wind Symphony and the Julie Giroux All-Star Band prior to their conference-closing concert at 7:30p.m. in Miller Auditorium.  The concert will also feature faculty clarinet professor, Ellen Breakfield-Glick

The day-long Spring Conference event will include performances and master classes by WMU faculty and student soloists and ensembles.  Also featured will be afternoon performances by the following high school bands:

  • Livonia Churchill High School Wind Ensemble – Elizabeth Hering, Conductor
  • Grand Ledge High School Wind Symphony – John Szczerowski, Conductor
