Deferred Decisions
Admission to WMU is competitive and many factors are considered when an admission decision is made, including: success in college-preparatory courses, grade point average, grade trend, test scores, and other items provided in your application file.
Some students will receive a notice that their application decision will be deferred to February. This will occur after an admissions counselor has reviewed an application file and need more information about the student to be assured that the student is ready for the challenging academic work required from WMU college students.
To increase the likelihood of future admission, students whose admission decision is deferred should consider sending additional information, such as:
- Updated semester/trimester grades from your current coursework
- Improved ACT/SAT test scores
- Personal statements that allow us to further understand your individual circumstances and why you’re likely to be successful at WMU
- Other information you believe is important for us to consider
Students may submit additional documents as soon as they are available. Learn more about how to submit transcripts and test scores. Personal statements and other information you’d like to share can be directed to @email.
