Bio:

Dr. Obaidullah Hakimi, P.E., is an adjunct assistant professor in Western Michigan University’s Department of Civil and Construction Engineering. He earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in civil engineering from Western Michigan University and a B.S. in civil engineering from Nangarhar University in Afghanistan. He was also a Fulbright Scholar and an exchange student at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, through the EU-NICE Erasmus Mundus Program.

Hakimi brings a strong combination of academic and industry experience to his teaching and research. He currently serves as a commercial project manager at American Village Builders (AVB) in Portage, Michigan, and has previously held roles in project management, construction engineering, and environmental safeguards across the U.S., United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan.

His research expertise includes digital twin in civil infrastructure management, smart facility management, AI and machine learning for predictive maintenance and structural health monitoring. His technical and research contributions are complemented by professional involvement in construction and civil infrastructure management, with scholarly work published in peer-reviewed journals.
