Dr. Sandun S. Kuruppu is an associate professor in Western Michigan University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is the founder and director of WMU’s Transportation Electrification and Applied Mechatronics Lab (TEAMS Lab) and a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Prior to WMU, he held positions at Saginaw Valley State University, Nexteer Automotive, Texas Instruments Kilby Research Lab and Delphi Electronics and Safety.
Kuruppu has received over $3.4 million in external funding as the Principal Investigator, including the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy Vehicle Technology Office. He is the recipient of Ruth and Ted Braun Fellowship for research and Excellence for Online Teaching Award in 2021 from Saginaw Valley State University. He is an associate editor of IEEE Power Electronics Society Educational Videos on Power Electronics and serves on IEEE ECCE organizing committee.
