Bio:

Dr. Michael G.T. Wilkinson is a faculty specialist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western Michigan University. Wilkinson received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2025, following a B.S. in electrical and computer Engineering from the University of Alabama. At WMU, he teaches upper-level engineering coursework in linear systems, network analyses, probabilistic methods and signal analysis, emphasizing student-centered, experiential learning frameworks. Prior to his current appointment, Wilkinson conducted cross-disciplinary research at Johns Hopkins spanning bio-robotics, system identification and biological sensorimotor control with a focus on modeling complex sensorimotor phenomena in bats and humans. His research has been supported by competitive fellowships, including the JHU Kavli NDI Fellowship, and published in leading journals including the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America. Wilkinson has held leadership roles across university governance, managed multi-institutional research collaborations, and brings industry experience as a senior financial analyst at Liberty Mutual and an operations research analyst for the United States Air Force Materiel Command.
