"First Voice Generation" documentary screening and Q&A with filmmaker Cynthia Martinez

Posted by Emily Monacelli Guzman for Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

"First Voice Generation" tells the stories of three Latinx high school students in Holland, Mich., who are part of the TRiO Upward Bound Program. It highlights their dreams of being the first in their families to go to college and how the COVID-19 global pandemic and virtual learning exacerbated their struggles.

Join filmmaker and WMU alumna Cynthia Martinez for a free screening of her documentary, followed by a question-and-answer session with Martinez.

Sponsored by the Western Michigan University Office of the Provost, Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Latinx Employee Association.
