Interim Provost, Dr. Christopher Cheatham
A longtime Bronco educator and academic leader, Dr. Cheatham advances WMU’s academic quality, student success, and faculty excellence.
Since joining WMU in 2003, Dr. Christopher Cheatham has served as professor of exercise physiology and held key leadership posts: department chair (Human Performance and Health Education), associate dean for academic services in the College of Education and Human Development, and vice provost overseeing budget and personnel. His administrative portfolio has included Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, the Office of Sustainability, the Lewis Walker Institute, WMU 102.1 FM, Sieta Scholars, and enrollment management.
A researcher in environmental physiology, Cheatham has authored peer-reviewed publications and received support from the U.S. Department of Defense and commercial partners. He earned his B.S. (Miami University), M.S. (Ball State), and Ph.D. (Kent State), and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the John B. Pierce Laboratory affiliated with Yale School of Medicine.
