A Message from Dr. Remzi Seker, Vice President for Research and Innovation

As Vice President for Research and Innovation, I welcome you to WMU and the Lee Honors College. My office, the Office of Research and Innovation, works closely with the Lee Honors College because undergraduate research is integral to a student’s experience and long-term success.
Students comment that participation in research, scholarship or creative activity early at WMU broadens and deepens their critical thinking, creativity and a more profound mastery of course content while providing an additional community of engagement. Some benefits of undergraduate research include:
Developing mentoring relationships with faculty or staff members who care about your success
Cultivating an understanding of research design and methodology
Discovering new interests
Enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills and more
We are committed to improving how we serve our students and providing them experiential learning opportunities in research, innovation, and creative scholarship. For example, we organize the Bronco Innovators’ Challenge, which provides participants funding to develop and market their innovations. We also support students filing a patent application for their inventions.
