Video of Fall 2021 Semester: Welcome to Lee Honors College, new students!

Future Honors Students

Thank you for your interest in the Lee Honors College! We look forward to preparing you to show the world what you can DO, rather than just what you KNOW. Please find some helpful information below about joining the honors college at WMU.

First-year Students

First-year students who have been admitted to the university for fall 2024, and are eligible for automatic invitation, will be sent an invitation to accept membership (3.6 or higher high school GPA) to the Lee Honors College. Invitations will be sent on a rolling basis December 2023 through May 2024. Invitations are sent to your personal addresses and include a link to accept.

For additional information regarding admission including an application for those that do not meet the requirements for automatic invitation to join, please visit our Admissions Criteria page.

Current WMU, New Transfer, and International Students

Admitted transfers students are invited to join the honors college if they have a transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher with a minimum of 26 earned college credits at time of admission.

Current WMU students who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for two consecutive fall/spring semesters will be invited to join the honors college.

International students may apply to become a member of the Lee Honors College after being admitted to WMU. Please visit our admissions page to access the application (link below).

For additional information regarding admission including an application for those that do not meet the requirements for automatic invitation to join, please visit our Admissions Criteria page.

New Student Orientation and Priority Registration

All new WMU students are required to participate in New Student Orientation. Honors students should follow the same next steps as all other WMU students, but be sure to identify themselves as members of the Lee Honors College in the pre-advising survey when prompted. This is the ONLY way to receive priority registration privileges in early May before other incoming first-year students (all music and art majors must schedule their advising appointments for the first week of May). Students who do not identify themselves as members will register after the first three weeks of May 2024. The pre-advising survey is included in the Gold Gateway that includes all necessary next steps for Orientation and fall transition.
