2025-2026 Initiatives
L.A.S.S.O. (LHC Academic Support and Success Orientation)
A comprehensive eLearning module that contains information about honors graduation requirements, advising, services, and opportunities. All new honors students must complete the program within the first 6 weeks of the semester that they join the college.
Open to all honors students identifying as first-generation. Led by Coordinator of Prestigious Scholarships, Joe Schuetz, himself a first-generation WMU graduate. Programming will focus on navigating college life at WMU and the LHC, sharing first-gen experiences in higher education, and will feature first-gen speakers from WMU and beyond.
Weekly Wins
New series with weekly installments targeting specific goals of a well-rounded first semester. Topics include, setting up your schedule in Outlook, visiting tutoring, attending office hours, going to an athletic event or performance, writing a letter home, etc. Follow us on Instagram at @leehonorscollege and watch your weekly LHC student email newsletter to take part (and maybe win some LHC swag)!
P.S.S.T. (Peer Student Success Team)
19 undergraduate peer mentors who facilitate one-on-one meetings with mentees during the fall and spring semesters; communicate via e-mail on a weekly basis with mentees regarding honors college requirements, events, opportunities, and self-care strategies; attend, coordinate, and facilitate honors college events, programs, community service opportunities, or all of the above; meet with prospective honors students and attend honors college recruitment events.
Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for First-Year Success
LHC houses the nationally recognized and award-winning WMU chapter of ALD. ALD membership is lifetime and all WMU students who earn a 3.5 GPA their first semester in college are invited to join. Membership benefits in this very active chapter include leadership development programs, chapter leadership opportunities, academic and professional support, and scholarships for undergraduate tuition, study abroad and graduate school.
