On April 17, 2024, alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of Western Michigan University will once again unite in the common cause of advancing WMU through philanthropy. As we have in previous years, the Lee Honors College will participate in WMU Giving Day, and our goal for 2024 is to support our students by contributing to the Michael Goodwin Financial Assistance Fund.

Thanks to the efforts of generous donors, we have been able to provide emergency funds to honors students facing hardships, but since the need is great, we would like to increase this support in order to reach more students over a longer period of time.

Planning for an emergency can be difficult—especially if you are a student who has tuition and many other expenses to consider. Things like car repairs, medical bills and overdue fines not only impact a bank account, but these stressors can also impact mental health and negatively affect class performance. As we often tell our students, “Your future is our focus,” and those who donate on Giving Day will help us provide much needed assistance to Lee Honors College students so that they may focus on achieving their goals.

Mark your calendar for April 17, 2024 and make sure to follow our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X) for more information and giving impact stories in the weeks ahead. You can also learn about gifting opportunities on the WMU Giving Day website. All donations make an impact on our students' lives - no gift is too small.
