Emily Kostbade - Boren Scholarship Recipient

Emily Kostbade, honors college student, 2019 Medallion Scholar and 2023 Presidential Scholar in Global & International Studies, was recently awarded a prestigious Boren Scholarship for the African Flagship Language Initiative (AFLI) program to study French. Emily will travel to the University of Florida, Gainsville this summer and then to the West African Research Center in Dakar, Senegal this fall. 

The Boren Awards are an initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) and are highly competitive. The AFLI provides students the opportunity to study African languages and cultures by participating in domestic and overseas language programs.
