25 Year Club

The Board of Trustees established the 25 Year Club in 1982 with 98 charter members, with the goal of recognizing faculty and staff who have at least 25 years of service to Western Michigan University.

Induction into the 25 Year Club is recognized at the annual 25 Year Club Gala, which is traditionally held between the week before Thanksgiving and fall semester exam week. This invited-guest-only event is hosted by Human Resources and is for new members who are "inducted" into the club during the calendar year in which they achieve 25 years of service. These new members receive a gift from the University, a commemorative certificate and a 25 Year Club mug.

Membership is purely an honorary designation. Other than the annual gala, there are no other official functions or responsibilities affiliated with the 25 Year Club induction at the Gala.

This year’s 25 Year Club Gala is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Student Center at 5:30 p.m. Please save the date and look for your special invitation from Evite. Evite is the electronic medium system used to send the 25 Year Club Gala invitations to your Western Michigan University “wmich.edu” email address.

Twenty-five Year Club employees and WMU retirees will receive a separate invitation to the annual Service Recognition Luncheon which is hosted by the Office of the President and is held in the summer. The employees newly inducted into the 25 Year Club will receive an invitation to this event following the next year, after their 25 Year Club induction ceremony.
