Undergraduate programs

The School of Music offers three types of bachelor’s degrees:

  • Bachelor of Music with majors in Composition, Music Education (choral/general or instrumental emphasis), Music Therapy, and Music Performance (instrumental, jazz studies, keyboard or voice).
  • Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Music—admission to this major is currently suspended.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Music.

The School of Music also offers a minor in music.

Acceptance to any music major is by audition and is contingent upon the student earning admission to the University.

Graduate programs

The Jazz Studies Department at the Western Michigan University School of Music offers a Master of Music degree, a Master of Arts degree, and a Graduate Certificate in Music Performance.
