The Western Invitational Jazz Festival is a high school jazz festival that welcomes both big bands and combos. Student groups gain valuable performance experience as they are adjudicated by our WMU jazz faculty in an encouraging and nurturing atmosphere.  More info about participation.

In addition to each student group, the festival includes two concerts:

  1. An opening concert on Friday with the Western Jazz Collective and a special guest Elliot Mason.
  2. The closing evening concert with the top high school big band and combo, as well as the WMU Jazz Orchestra featuring our special guest.
