Medical Humanities Conference 2024
Dates & Format
The 2024 Medical Humanities Conference will be on Friday, October 25th. It will be virtual, through Microsoft Teams (see below). There will be a track on AI and healthcare; other submissions have been grouped thematically.
Conference Program
The conference program has presenter names and titles. We also have a schedule overview, organized both by presenter name and by topic. (All times are EST.) We also have an abstract book, with full descriptions of all the presentations; please note that it starts with the keynote, then does the panels, then the contributed papers. We ask presenters to spend approximately half of their allotted time presenting, and to reserve the other half for discussion.
We are also pleased to announce our keynote lecture, by Dr. John Basl, Ph.D. (Department of Philosophy, Northeastern University). Dr. Basl's presentation is entitled "Building an Ethics Ecosystem for AI: What, Why, and How?", and will be at 12:00pm. It is open (for free) to the public, through this link; please also feel free to invite your students. Here is a flyer for the talk.
Conference Registration
Conference registration is now open! Registration is required for all presenters, both faculty and students; students are encouraged to seek funding from their home institutions. Please note that registrations fund: a faculty course buy-out, graduate assistants, keynote honoraria, and a student essay prize, among other expenses.
If faculty would like to invite their classes or other undergraduate participants, please reach out to Dr. Allhoff to make arrangements (@email).
Microsoft Teams
All conference registrants will be added into Microsoft Teams. Please review the attached document for further instructions. If you need additional help, or to enroll students, please email @email.
