WMU emerita receives American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's highest honor

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association will recognize Dr. Yvette D. Hyter, professor emerita of speech, language and hearing sciences, with the Honors of the Association at its convention in Boston. This is the highest honor bestowed by the organization, distinguishing members for their contributions to communication sciences and disorders disciplines.

WMU student places first at national sales competition

Western Michigan University sales students competed at the State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition, where Cameron Musser took first in one of the sales role-plays, bringing home prize money and accolades for the Haworth College of Business.

First responder training at vacant Bernhard Center Nov. 10-12

For this three-day training, firefighters and public safety vehicles, including at least one fire truck, will be outside the Bernhard Center.

The ceremony, held at WMU’s newly unveiled student center, celebrated the highest number of transfer agreements ever signed between the two institutions. With these agreements, Kalamazoo Valley students in more than 50 programs can transfer seamlessly to WMU to continue pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Western honors, celebrates veterans with service dog program donation, scholarship

During a timeout in the first half of the game, representatives from the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs will honor BSSD dogs and trainers and recognize $15,000 that was donated to the organization over the summer through the sale of Operation Hat Trick merchandise. Blue Star Service Dogs will name a dog cadet in honor of WMU, and Bronco fans will have an opportunity to vote on that name at the football game.

Native American Heritage Month honors the culture and contributions of Indigenous populations in the United States. Western's Native American Student Association and Native American Affairs Council are hosting a number of events to raise awareness and honor Native American history and heritage on campus.
