Rodney Weir

Rodney Weir, PT, DPT, DHS, NCS has joined the Department of Physical Therapy as an assistant professor. He received his Doctor of Health Science degree from Midwestern University, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Alabama State University. Dr. Weir is originally from southwest Michigan and has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.

Prior to this appointment at WMU, Dr. Weir worked in the public schools in Chicago, and as an adjunct professor at Malcolm X College, City Colleges of Chicago, in the physical therapist assistant program. He also has experience in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation. Dr. Weir has worked with patients with neurological diagnoses throughout his career, and is a certified specialist in neurology (NCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Dr. Weir is completing research investigating how physical therapists support caregivers by providing training and education. He has presented on this topic at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting, and also co-authored a published journal article. Dr. Weir has also been active in the APTA, participating in various committees and projects.
