This page provides guidance for the hiring and appointment of part-time faculty within Academic Affairs. It includes required procedures, templates, and supporting documents to assist departments and business managers throughout the appointment process.
Candidate Selection: The department/school selects candidates in accordance with department/school and college procedures for hiring part-time faculty.
Letter of Offer: The department/school prepares the letter of offer (see below templates)
Credential Verification (P-008): The department/school completes the Verification of faculty credentials for all new part-time faculty and maintains ongoing compliance to the policy.
Final Approvals: The chair/director and dean approve the appointment form in PeopleSoft. Provost approval is not required.
Provost Budget & Personnel Review: The hiring unit forwards the signed letter of offer and signed P-008 to the Provost's Office at the beginning of each semester. For brand-new part-time instructor appointments, the hiring unit should forward the completed P-008 to the Provost's Office as soon as it is finalized.
