He then transferred to Western Michigan University to get a two-year associate’s degree in air conditioning and refrigeration. He stayed on to receive a B.S. Degree in Industrial Distribution and later, a Master’s Degree in Industrial Supervision. His first job was in sales with Morse Chain Company, a division of Borg Warner in Ithaca, NY. After assignments in Cincinnati and Toronto, Robert moved to Philadelphia where he worked with a sales representative firm.

The following year, she was promoted again to her current position in Charlotte, North Carolina, taking on a larger territory and working with major retailers. About her job at UGG, Ashley says “I love working with others in sales and UGG has been a wonderful brand to be a part of.” Ashley credits her first job after graduation as a store manager with Coach Inc. for giving her the leadership and management experience she needed to be successful in her current job.

The department projects that between 2010 and 2020, there will be increases of 14 percent in mathematics jobs, 22 percent in computer systems analyst jobs, 32 percent in systems software developer jobs, 36 percent in medical scientist jobs and 62 percent in biomedical engineer jobs. President Obama has articulated a clear priority for STEM education: within a decade, American students must “move from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math.”
