Academic Integrity Hearing Panel

Academic Integrity Hearing Panels are coordinated by Student Rights and Responsibilities. Faculty and student members are elected by their respective academic departments and are trained by Student Rights and Responsibilities. As outlined in the Western Michigan University Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs, an academic integrity hearing panel will be drawn from the group of faculty and students who are elected to serve in this capacity by their respective departments. Each academic integrity hearing panel will consist of five-members, including three faculty and two students. The hearing panel will hear the charge and determine whether the charge has merit. Coming into a hearing, a student is considered to be not responsible for the alleged violation. A student is only considered to be responsible at the point in which it is determined by the academic integrity hearing panel that the facts assembled and what occurred rises to the level of a violation. The decision of the Academic Integrity Hearing Panel is final and may not be appealed.
