Alexandra Brueger
The Crime
On July 30, 2016, Alexandra Brueger set out for her routine afternoon jog. A nearby resident found her body at approximately 2:00 p.m. along Fish Lake Road in Rose Township, Michigan and attempted to provide aid until emergency responders arrived. Alexandra had been shot in the back and she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Victim:
Alexandra (Ally) Nicolette Brueger was born the only child of Franz and Nikki Brueger on November 9, 1984. She was a 31-year-old free spirit with a witty sense of humor and a vibrant personality. Ally’s parents described her as a kind, humble and thoughtful child who they loved deeply. Family, friends and coworkers remember Ally being a considerate person with a witty sense of humor. She had a deep passion for the arts and storytelling so much she was enrolled in an online master’s degree program in creative writing. Ally took immense pride in her career as a registered nurse at St. Johns Providence Park Hospital in Novi, MI and her coworkers described her as an amazing nurse with a fun and loving personality that everyone loved to be around.
The Cold Case:
According to publicly available information, a white or light-colored four-door sedan was observed in the vicinity of the crime scene around the time of the incident. The Michigan State Police Second District has continued to work with Crime Stoppers to encourage anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
How the WMU Cold Case Program Aided in the Investigation:
Broncos in the Cold Case Program are assisting detectives in the Special Investigation Section by organizing and digitizing Ally’s case materials. Students have also developed several investigative resources for the detectives, including detailed analyses of people of interest, timelines of people of interest, and a tip index. Through their efforts, these students have become deeply committed to advancing the investigation and helping bring answers and closure to Ally’s family and friends.
