Doug Campbell

Doug Campbell is a highly accomplished architect, business leader, teacher, community advocate, and sustainability champion. As the Founder and CEO of Whitewater Design, he helps his team, clients, and partners achieve the mission of ‘collaboration that moves mountains.’ With more than twenty years of design and client leadership, Doug has deep experience in multiple market sectors including PreK-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Mixed Use Development. Doug is known for his commitment to exploration and innovation, sustainability at any budget, human health and wellness, and transformative user experiences. His nationally recognized expertise in campus and community planning, student life, sports and recreations, and academic environments is unique in his focus on strategy, story telling, and student outcomes. Doug gives back to the community through the Thrive mentorship program, teaching at WMU, volunteer programs, and his current role as 2026 AIA Grand Rapids President.
