Lantern Festival Celebration 2025

Posted by Elizabeth Braaksma for Global Engagement

Come celebrate Lantern Festival with the Kalamazoo Chinese Academy. Lantern Festival, or 元宵节 (Yuánxiāojié), is the last day of the Lunar New Year (also known as Spring Festival). This fun, indoor event features performances, specialty foods for purchase, games, and activities for the whole family!

Is this event free to attend?

It is free to attend the KCA Lantern Festival Celebration, enjoy the performances, watch the workshops, and visit the various tables. Activity tickets are available for purchase at the door. Tickets are required to purchase specialty foods, artwork, face painting, balloon animals, and to participate in certain games and workshops. All registered KCA families and event volunteers will receive 5 free tickets (equivalent to $5 in value).

Where do I park?

You may park at the building parking lot if there are open spots; however, the building will be open to the senior center's members from 2 to 5pm for regular activities, so this is something to keep in mind. The parking lot behind Dairy Queen next door is available for overflow parking. Street parking is also allowed.
