Where do I send my job content tool once it is complete?

You should send your completed job content tool as an email attachment to hr-compensation@wmich.edu, making sure to CC your supervisor on the email.

How do I find my Employee ID number?

Your employee ID number can be found by logging in to GoWMU and following one of the two following paths:

  1. Visit the My Self Service channel in GoWMU, select Employee Self Service and then Main Menu, Self Service, Personal Information and Personal Information Summary. Your employee ID number is listed next to your name at the top of the page.
  2. Visit the My Self Service channel in GoWMU, select Employee Self Service and then Main Menu, Self Service, Payroll and Compensation, and View Paycheck. Select any check date and a copy of that date's payroll advice will open as a PDF.  Your employee ID number is located in the section immediately to the right of your name.

Where can I find a record of past job duties for my position?

The most recent job description for each staff compensation system position at WMU is available by job title or position number at Staff Compensation System: Job Descriptions.

Do I have to complete the job content tool?

Completion of the job content tool is needed for the consultants to accurately place your position into the new compensation system.

I am having trouble describing and allocating time percentages to my job functions. Who can I talk to about this?

You may call the compensation project help line at (269) 387-3659. Please contact Human Resources at (269) 387-3620 for session availability and reservations.

Supervisors are asked to include their comments on a separate tab of the job content tool. The consultants will take both the employee content and supervisor comments into consideration when placing the position.

My department reporting structure has changed. May I use the job content tool to update the HR system (PeopleSoft)?

No, changes to the Human Resources system (PeopleSoft) must be made using the regular process, which is to request a position authorization form from the Office of University Budgets and Financial Planning, note the requested change on the form, and route the form for signatures.

Do supervisors need to complete the job content tool for vacant positions?

No.

Will chairs, deans and other department heads have an opportunity to review the job content tool for positions in their area?

Units may work out an internal system for next level review. However, this next level review is not a requirement at this stage of the project.
