General summary

Ensures the effective provision of police services through technical support, training and scheduling of shift personnel.

Major duties

  • Manages electronic scheduling system and coordinates shift schedules. Ensures shift coverage, including overtime, athletic and special events. Oversees annual and sick leave.
  • Schedules and provides training for police officers and student employees with responsibilities including campus security, parking and athletics. Maintains training records.
  • Communicates with University departments and local police departments for overtime, grants, football team liaison and training.
  • Supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.

Required other

  • Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES).
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license.

Physical requirements

Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed in an environment with extremely disagreeable or hazardous working conditions with exposure to any number of elements and hazards on a continual basis.
