General summary

Manages the Parking Services division of Public Safety and the key shop operations.

Major duties

  • Supervises parking services employees. Establishes operating policies and procedures for the division.
  • Plans new parking facilities, including providing input into layout, accessibility issues and the number of spaces needed.
  • Oversees the maintenance of all parking lots and garages, including maintaining parking meters, signs, line markings and parking enforcement activities.
  • Manages the key shop and assigned personnel.
  • Participates in meetings with University administrators and users to ensure a cohesive working relationship between Parking Services and system users. Makes recommendations on changes to University policies and procedures related to parking.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Required other

  • Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES).
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license.

Physical requirements

Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed in an environment with extremely disagreeable or hazardous working conditions with exposure to any number of elements and hazards on a continual basis.
