General summary

Manages, under general direction, accounts receivable operations and staff.

Major duties

  • Directs and supervises operations for Accounts Receivable to ensure quality delivery of services. Supervises staff, including hiring and other employment decisions. Provides backup for the Associate Director Accounts Receivable.
  • Validates testing and processing of tuition invoices and statements monthly. Oversees disbursement of refunds. Ensures accurate and timely billings to third party payers. Manages and reconciles refund and banking process.
  • Serves as liaison to Financial Aid and Accounting Services for training, process and procedural changes. Resolves complex customer disputes, problems, and questions.
  • Tests and implements complex process modification upgrades of automated systems related to accounts receivable functions for e-billing and e-refunding.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures. Identifies best practices and authorizes exceptions from standard procedures. Provides training on policies and procedures related to billing and the student information system. Facilitates internal and external communication.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Professional accounting or financial experience in one or more of the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable/disbursements, cashiering, collections, and customer service.
  • Spreadsheet proficiency and accounting systems experience.
  • Supervisory experience or experience providing guidance to students or other employees.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
