Associate Director Dining Services

Responsible for providing leadership to Dining Services operations and assures compliance with policies and regulations. Plans and Implements programs while utilizing business and financial management practices.

• Provides information, direction, and feedback for effective workflow, customer service, and promotion of collaborative teamwork. Provides input and collaborates on marketing initiatives, events and campus programs.
• Manages a diverse workforce and establishes skill levels of workforce to meet current and future culinary service and retail needs.
• Initiates and pursues opportunities to further sustainable practices within foodservice operations in partnership with other vested departments.
• Ensures a safe and sanitary environment for each University food establishment to ensure compliance with Federal, State, County, and University safety and sanitation regulations.
• Plans and provides appropriate services during emergency or special situations.
• Maintains current working knowledge of the collective bargaining unit contract and provides guidance to management staff on related procedures and successful management-labor relations.
• Defines schedule and placement of employees into various campus divisions. Continues to revise summer dining staffing and placement based on operational needs of participating divisions.
• Collaborates to ensure a high-quality campus dining program while staying relevant with current culinary and service industry trends.
• Participates in professional development and continuing education.
• Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff employees.

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

• Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

• Three years' relevant experience.
• Supervisory or lead experience.
• Experience in a large commercial foodservice operation.
• Experience in a retail environment.

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
