General summary
Provide leadership and overall direction for Residence Life through management of residence facilities, programs and processes to intentionally create educationally purposeful environments focused on student learning and development.
Major duties
- Directs and leads the strategic and organizational planning activities to integrate all functions and services within Residence Life. Utilizes assessment data to improve the effectiveness of programs and services.
- Provides departmental leadership by infusing student learning and development into all interactions, processes and policies.
- Determines business policies and practices for contracts and assignments. Determines competitive market room and board rates.
- Provides leadership and direction of broad-based residential facility construction, strategic capital and organizational planning.
- Represents Residence Life, while working collaboratively with other University departments, students, parents and the community. Serves on various divisional and University-wide committees.
- Directs and analyzes facilities, safety and security measures, policies and programs to protect the rights of students and minimize liability.
- Approves budget and all expenditures. Develops budget forecast.
- Supervises, trains and evaluates staff. Responsible for all staff employment decisions.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Eight years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekend and holiday rotation.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
