General summary

Oversees the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of theory- and evidence-based health promotion programs, policies and services for students.

Major duties

  • Establishes the direction for the health promotion and education unit of Sindecuse Health Center, including unit priorities and staffing needs. Procures and manages the unit operating budget. Oversees healthcare protocols, revenue and insurance reimbursement processes for the clinical health services within the unit.
  • Designs, develops, coordinates, delivers and evaluates health promotion programs and environmental and policy change activities in order to increase health protective factors and reduce risk factors.
  • Participates in research and professional writing, publications and presentations. Creates strategies to encourage student engagement in programming and healthy behaviors. Develops responses to campus and public media coverage on health education topics in collaboration with University Relations.
  • Leads curriculum infusion and monitors student learning outcomes. Participates in and leads outreach activities and committees as appropriate. Establishes strong and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students and community stakeholders.
  • Practices cultural humility and incorporates equity and social justice into health promotion strategy.
  • Directs the development, implementation and analysis of periodic student health surveys to identify needs, prioritize resource allocation, track health trends and evaluate effectiveness of interventions.
  • Researches and recommends best practices for evidence-based health promotion programs. Oversees curriculum infusion and monitors learning outcomes. Develops assessment plans for the unit, oversees data collection and prepares and presents data reports.
  • Oversees health fluency and social marketing strategies to promote well-being and engagement in health promotion programs and services.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Required other

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH).

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
