General summary

Leads and supervises nursing and diagnostic services staff. Provides primary and preventative care with adherence to current nursing standards.

Major duties

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises nursing and diagnostic services, including all issues regarding personnel, budget, annual goals, and outreach activities.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards of care. Manages University health programs to ensure compliance.
  • Develops nursing goals, objectives, policies and procedures for improvement in patient flow. Works with the clinical team to develop and execute new clinical services.
  • Serves as nurse clinician responsible for direct patient care. Approves standing orders.
  • May serve on departmental or University-wide committees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Nurse supervisory experience with both clinical and budgetary oversight.
  • Direct care experience in ambulatory or emergency care setting.
  • Proven leadership as a nurse supervisor.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
